Dig this

Beneath the fabric of the Gaol’s oldest cell is a story more than 150 years in the making. An archaeological dig by the South Australian Museum has uncovered evidence of the earliest settlement of Adelaide along the banks of the River Torrens. As well as offering new reflections on the river’s cultural landscape the dig has recovered finds reflecting the changing nature of prisoners’ activities at the gaol, their personal life and secrets.
