Encounter Summary of Submissions report
The Encounter Marine Park Draft Zoning Plan was released for three-months
public comment on 8 March 2005. By the close of the public comment
period the Department for Environment and Heritage (DEH) had received
427 written submissions, providing valuable feedback on the draft
zoning plan. The Government would like to thank all respondents for
the time and effort put into preparing submissions.
DEH has read and analysed each submission, which continue to be
available for public viewing at DEH offices in Victor Harbor and
Kangaroo Island. For ease of reference, a Summary of Submissions
Report has been produced which provides a review of feedback
received. Please note that the report does not make recommendations
for changes to the draft zoning arrangements. Changes will be developed
following further consultation with the community, during 2008/09.

Next Steps
Marine Parks Outer Boundaries
Now the Marine Parks Act 2007 has been proclaimed, the next
step is to release the outer boundaries of all 19 marine parks proposed
for South Australia's coastal waters.
Public comment will be sought on the marine park outer boundaries
once released later in 2008.
It should be noted that the announcement of the marine park
outer boundaries will not include any zoning within the marine parks,
and should therefore have no effect on the way people currently
use the marine environment.
For more information about zoning in marine parks please refer
to our zoning for multiple
use page.
For more information about the marine parks development process
and how you can be involved, please refer to our community
involvement page.
Marine Parks Information Sessions
Community engagement officers are visiting regional communities
during 2008 with a series of open days and other community events
promoting marine parks and other marine conservation initiatives.
