Supporting the management of the SA environment
|
The Environmental Information
directorate has been established to provide focused and integrated
environmental information activities. It recognises that targeted
information plays a key role in achieving strong environmental outcomes.

Environmental Information
will provide timely, cost and business effective environmental information
and technology services supporting the Department for Environment and Heritage.
This will be done by:
- Consolidating and integrating DEH's
information assets supporting the agency's environmental management
programs.
- Providing a holistic and strategic approach to building an environmental
knowledge base for the State.
- Providing analytical support service, including GIS service,
to promote quality policy development and advice.
- Delivering environmental information and education services,
both within the agency and to the wider community.
- Providing the necessary information technology infrastructure
and technical support that allows DEH
to undertake its business.
- Providing environmental information expertise to government,
business and the South Australian community.

comprises of the following Branches:

Environmental Information Analysis (EIA)
The EIA branch manages the Department's key environmental and geographic
datasets, provides spatial analysis services to other directorates
and coordinates delivery of environmental and geographic information.
Image and Cadastral Services (ICS)
ICS is responsible for the provision of Statewide aerial photographic
and satellite imagery services, and the maintenance of the State's
fundamental digital cadastral datasets.
Environmental Education
This branch assists the Agency efforts to influence community behaviour
towards sustainable practice by the delivery of integrated environmental
education. Visit the Education

Information Technology (IT) Services Branch
IT Services comprises of IT Infrastructure and IT Support. The
branch is responsible for the delivery of IT services to DEH
staff as well as providing a service to the Environment Protection Authority
(EPA).
Web and Knowledge Management
This branch coordinates, implements and reviews the Agency's Information
Strategy and Plan, to meet Agency and legislative requirements.
It leads, coordinates and provides the development, implementation
and ongoing support of the Agency's Internet and Intranet sites.
It provides specialist consultancy services and advice on a broad
range of information and knowledge management.
